For normal cleaning, the fabric should be vacuumed regularly, ideally once a week, using half suction power if necessary. When it comes to stains, the faster you act, the easier it is to remove spilled liquids and avoid unsightly residues, even if there is no guarantee that the stain will disappear completely. Liquids or dried residues should first be removed with a spoon or scraper and loose particles vacuumed up. Liquids can then be absorbed with an absorbent cotton cloth. Non-greasy stains can be treated by gently dabbing with a lint-free cloth or sponge wrung out in warm water. To avoid leaving marks, dab the stain gently in a circular motion from the outside in. For greasy stains, use suitable cleaning agents or solvents, which should be tested on an inconspicuous area beforehand. The fabric must be completely dry before it is used again.

As a precaution, it is advisable to keep sharp or pointed objects such as keys, angular toys, or jewelry away from the surface to avoid damage. If a snag or loose thread does form, it can be pushed back into the fabric with a blunt object; under no circumstances should it be pulled or cut, as this could make the damage worse. It should also be noted that new denim clothing in particular can cause permanent discoloration, which is released by body heat and cannot be reversed. Light and medium shades are particularly affected by this.
