Product description

The UZU rug in Beige, size L, brings calm elegance and a distinctive design effect to modern living and sleeping areas. With its generous size, it creates a soft, inviting surface that visually connects rooms and adds noticeably more warmth.

Made from 100% viscose, UZU impresses with a pleasantly smooth surface and a subtle sheen. The material feels gentle against the skin, is also durable, and is ideal for areas where comfort and style are equally important. The understated beige color can be combined in many ways and complements both bright, natural interior concepts and minimalist, urban interiors.

The rug was designed by Kazushige Miyake, who drew inspiration from the quiet aesthetics of Japanese dry gardens. Lines and circular elements evoke the flowing movements of raked gravel without literally reproducing the motif. The result is a harmonious, contemporary design with a calm presence.

The material, tested according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100, subtly rounds off the product’s premium quality claim. UZU is part of a series available in various colors and sizes.

Designer: Kazushige Miyake

About

Japanese designer Kazushige Miyake (b. 1973) graduated from Tama Art University in Tokyo with a specialization in design. He then began his career as a product designer in Great Britain before returning to Japan in 1999.

In 2005, he founded his own design studio. Today, Miyake Design is synonymous with clear and functional product design, from lounge chairs to suitcases, always with the discerning consumer in mind. Miyake favors simplicity and straightforwardness in his designs, and believes that every object has its own form. 

This form is not limited to its physical presence, but also includes the aura or atmosphere that surrounds the object and its effect on those who use it.

Kazushige Miyake has received a number of prestigious design awards, including the iF Design Award, the Red Dot Design Award and the Good Design Award. Today, he is a member of the evaluation committees for both the Good Design Award and the iF Design Award.
